Tr. Tielin Yin
To keep my existence,
I take care of a few trees, and,
A couple of butterflies,
And cultivate an enemy.
To exist, and to exist in emptiness,
I plant a narcissus, and,
Write a few poems,
And have two totally different dreams.
To exist, and to exist in practical emptiness,
I live near a pond that has five rocks.
Africa is far away, but a lion lies on my parlor floor,
I keep the lion's teeth, but cut its claw,
I keep the lion in illness,
But let its pretty stripes remain.
Tr. Tielin Yin
Branches have grown over her body,
They get wet with dew in the night,
They bounce, and the dew trembles,
Air meanders through the gaps in branches.
When I first saw her, there was no leaves grown over her body yet,
There was no flood,
Gas stove was on, stairway was not burnt,
Shells were not captivated by spider web,
The library light was still on,
I did not have a lover yet, and she had not shown her teeth
To bite and tear her yellow satin cloth.
We never embraced,
Nor had we been on one bed to struggle under the moonlight.
Celang murmured to me:?"Now is the time".
But we did not exchange our dark sex, nor bright love.
Amazed at he branches around her body,
I spoke out my true feeling,
She picked up the dew, and made a sleeping roof out of it.
Until now, I still keep in mind her curse:
One day, she will get back breath, borrow hair and eyes,
And becomes my next-door neighbor,
Then, make noise with her branches every night to me.
